The Wareham Free Library received over $12,100 of donations.

Of these funds, $10,000 were received from the Wareham Library Foundation, Inc. and the Friends of the Wareham Free Library Inc. and will be used to purchase books and materials, and $1,200 received from the Friends of the Wareham Free Library will be used to purchase museum passes.

Another $400 were received from the Friends of the Wareham Free Library Inc. and will be used to purchase history books in memory of George Shaw, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Tobey Hospital in Wareham.

The Friends of the Wareham Free Library also donated to The Spinney Memorial Branch Library $500 in memory of Richard Wheeler, a Wareham resident, and life-long environmental advocate. The money will be used to purchase books related to environmental science, sustainability, and nature.

“We have done a lot in the past year in terms of trying to make library speed up and move ahead. We have all been very impressed with how far we were able to come in such a short time,” said Library Director George Ripley, who anticipates that the library will be fully recertified soon.
