Local artists to hold showcase
The Bourne Wareham Art Association will hold its spring showcase and art sale in the Wareham Free Library, 59 Marion Road, throughout the month of June, with 10 artists from around the region displaying their works in oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolor, photography and mixed media.
On Friday, May 31, from 1 to 3 p.m., the artists involved in the show will be at the library to talk about their artwork.
However, this will not be the only occasion where artists will gather and meet under the auspices of the Bourne Wareham Art Association.
The Association holds eight meetings a year, skipping July, August, January and February, where artists can gather, hear presentations and talk about each other’s work.
“It’s great to meet with other artists and bounce ideas off each other,” said artist and Association Show Manager Tim Foley. “You’re always learning.”
Many of the artists in the Association are local, though membership is not restricted to artists from Bourne and Wareham.
The artists’ local roots reflect in their work, according to Foley. “A lot of the things that the artists do are… local scenes, because these are nice to get out and view and paint,” he said.
The Association is also celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024.
If people are interested in the Association, they are welcome to attend its monthly meetings, said Foley. For more information about the Association, visit the Bourne-Wareham Art Association Facebook page.
