Locals visit Onset Band Shell to see stars

May 27, 2017

The Onset Bay Association hosted its fourth annual Memorial Day weekend concert Saturday afternoon, encouraging the community to bask in the sun and clap their hands to the music.

Community members performed at the Onset Band Shell stage, including John Salerno and Dennis Nobrega. Groups of people sat in the stands or set up picnic blankets with their children or dogs, enjoying some sun and live music to kick off the summer.

Kat Jones, the president of the Onset Bay Association, said she was happy with the turnout and to see the community enjoying the day together, especially the huge Jenga game and other games supplied.

“I see people milling about and it’s nice,” Jones said. “It’s great to have people out and about.”

This is the first of many live music events the Onset Bay Association will hold this summer. The Onset Summer of Love concert series kicks off June 28, with free concerts every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Lillian Gregerman Bandshell.
