M. Rita Duverger, 101, of Bourne died Monday, June 13, 2022 at Cape Cod Senior Living. She was the widow of the late Lucien A. Duverger.

Born in Whitman, she was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Hurley) McGrail. She worked as a senior clerk for the City of Brockton Water Department. A longtime resident of Brockton, she lived in Wareham for many years before moving to Bourne.

Mrs. Duverger enjoyed bowling and was a league bowler up until age 90. She also enjoyed going out to dinner with her daughters, crossword puzzles, and was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. Rita won an academy award for her performance in the award winning “Singing in the Rain” at the age of 99.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Hurley of Bourne, Nancy Wildman of Sagamore Beach, and Deborah McDonald of Norton. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be from Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Wednesday, Jun 22 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Rd., Pocasset at 10 a.m. Interment will be Thursday, June 23 at Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne at 10 a.m. Please arrive at the cemetery by 9:45 AM.
