Scammers selling magazine subscriptions under the guise of a Boys & Girls Club fundraiser are allegedly making the rounds in Wareham, according to Boys & Girls Club officials.

Boys & Girls Club of New Bedford/Wareham Executive Director Robert Mendes wrote a statement about the fraudulent fundraising scheme.

"These individuals are informing people that all proceeds from magazine sales are to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Wareham," Mendes said. "The Boys & Girls Club of Wareham has not authorized any such fundraising effort and is in no way associated with these individuals."

In the statement, Mendes sought assistance from the public by asking anyone who is approached in regards to magazine subscriptions on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club to not purchase any subscriptions and contact the local police department.
