A Wareham man was arrested on Tuesday night, June 16, after reportedly leading officers on a car chase through Wareham and Marion.

At about 10 p.m. Wareham Lt John Gerard attempted to pull someone over on Cranberry Highway near Route 195 for failing to stop at a red light.

According to police, the driver, Danye Thomas, 49, of Wareham, did not pull over, causing Wareham Police Officers to pursue him for a few minutes, before Gerard ordered officers to stop.

About 15 minutes later, Marion Police reportedly saw Thomas’ vehicle off of  Point Road in Marion.

Wareham officers were called in for assistance, and used “stop sticks” to deflate Thomas’ tires to slow down his vehicle.

Officers pursued Thomas for several more minutes before successfully stopping him on County Road near White Pine Avenue.

According to police reports, Thomas refused to get out of the vehicle. Wareham officers smashed a window on the car, and arrested Thomas.

Thomas is charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, speeding, failure to stop at a stop sign, and operation of a motor vehicle after suspension of his license.
