Marie G. (Gonsalves) Pludra-Turner, age 93, a resident of Taunton passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Teodor Pludra and the late Donald A. Turner.

She was born in Ansonia, CT. and was the daughter of the late Julian Gonsalves and the late Beatrice Pitts. Marie grew up in Fall River, MA and graduated from Durfee High School. She then went on to Salvation Army Officer Training College in New York City. As part of her graduation ceremonies, Marie was chosen to sing at Carnegie Hall. She worked as a social worker and was one of the first women to work with male parolees at the Connecticut State Prison Association. Her last job was working for the Salvation Army in Taunton.

After retiring, Marie was the President of the Taunton Golden Agers Club for many years. With her club members, she enjoyed travel, music and many adventures. She also loved spending time with the family dogs. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her sister, Jeannette Menker of North Haven, CT. Her daughter, Jacklyn M. Amaral and husband Fernando Amaral. Her daughter, Caron J. Pludra and her daughter, Lauren Pludra-Pratt and husband Richard Pratt. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Services were held on Friday, June 23rd at the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. Taunton. Interment was held at Mayflower Hill Cemetery.
