The new Marriott hotel in Wareham should be open within the next three weeks.

“The scheduled opening date is April 7. We’re hoping to open before that,” said Jeff Pineault, chief financial officer for LaFrance Hospitality Company, owner and operator of the 90-room hotel.

Pineault spoke at Tuesday night’s Selectmen meeting about the hotel, which is located at the intersection of Routes 28 and 195 in A.D. Makepeace’s Rosebrook Place.

Pineault came before Selectmen with Rosebrook Hospitality LLC Manager James Kane to obtain a year-round liquor license for the hotel’s Rosebrook Events Center.

The Rosebrook Event Center is adjacent to the hotel. It has two large function rooms totaling 3,500 square feet with a seating capacity of 300 people.

Selectmen approved the transfer of the liquor license from Rosebrook Place Hospitality (the Makepeace group) to Cranberry Hospitality (the hotel).

The license was one of eight year-round liquor licenses awarded to the town via “above quota” special legislation in 2010. All eight were awarded to specific businesses or locations and two of them were awarded for properties at the Rosebrook development. Ground was broken on the Marriott hotel in November of 2013.

"It's a great venture that both of you have done," Selectman Steve Holmes said to Pineault and Kane. "It's all going to be very successful."
