Merit based state scholarship awarded to 20 students
Twenty Wareham High School students met the requirements to receive the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship.
The students are now eligible to receive between $720 and $1,714 for tuition at Massachusetts public universities.
To receive the scholarship the students had to score in the “advanced” category on one of three high school state assessment tests which are English language arts, mathematics and science. The students also had to rank in the top 25% in the school district for MCAS scores on the assessments.
The winning students are: Zora Andrews, Christian Arlet, Payton Calvin, Teagan Baptiste, Jacob Lincoln, Aidan Jones, Lily Hagen, Ava Ricker, Emma McWilliams, Hannah Milne, Evelyn Francis, Jordan Pisz, Ethan Potito, Lain Potter, Rija Rakotoarimanitra-Bunting, Amber Roberts, Charlotte Roy, Felicity Disola, Will Wiksten and Xavier Zahara.
Six of the winners were present at the Nov. 21 school committee meeting to receive a handshake and a formal certificate of their achievement from the committee.
“Congratulations from the Wareham School Committee this is a credit to you and your families,” said committee chairperson Kevin Brogioli.
