Michael A. Morrison, 76
Michael A. Morrison, 76, of Onset passed away Saturday, June 25, with his family by his side at Forestview Nursing Home. Mr. Morrison was the husband of 54 years to Joyce L. (Newell) Morrison also of Onset.
He was born in Acushnet the son of the late Arthur H. and Ethel E. (Wentworth) Morrison. A lifelong Wareham resident, Mr. Morrison attended Wareham Public Schools and was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving a tour in Okinawa Japan. He was self-employed as a Gas Fitter and enjoyed his Sunday Seekonk Speedway Flea Market. He was an avid sports fan, coaching for Wareham Little League , pitching for a slow pitch softball team and with his uncle Tom he belonged to a bowling team. He and his wife opened their home to Nathaniel Green under the Kiwanis International, Fresh Air Program and they were the guardians of Peter Dean for 30 years.
Mr. Morrison is also survived by his children: Stephen A. Morrison of Centerville, Joseph B. Morrison of Wareham and Grace C. Morrison of Onset. He was the brother of Robert D. Morrison of Rochester, John W. Morrison of Maine and David J. Morrison of FL. He was the grandfather / grandpum, of Erica L. and her husband Stephen Anderson and Jacob M. Morrison and great Grandfather of Ariana Gomes, Amaya Anderson, Jolee Anderson and Josiah “JoJo”Anderson. He is also survived by his close friends Ed Savastano, Joseph Femia, Charles Rohrbach and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was the brother of the late Peter Morrison.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday, June 30, at 11:30 a.m. in the Wareham Village Funeral Home, 5 Center Street, Wareham. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Centre Cemetery, Tihonet Road, Wareham.
