Michael Allen Sylvia, 53, of Rochester passed away Aug. 13 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

He was the son of Carl L. and Mary-Alice (Chase) Sylvia of Marion. He was the grandson of the late Clifton and Alice Chase of Rochester.

Michael was a graduate of Tabor Academy in Marion and attended Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island with a major in historic preservation. He had a lifelong love of history, genealogy and antiques with a specialty in antique textiles.

His family includes his parents, his aunt Karen Chase of Rochester, devoted cousins and his many friends and colleagues in the antiques field. We cannot forget to mention his ever faithful feline companion, Antonio.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. in Saint Rose of Lima Church 282 Vaughan Hill Road, Rochester. Interment will be private. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
