Michelle Lee Filkins passed away while surrounded by family on October 9,2020, after a battle with cancer.

 

Her 49 years of life were spent in perpetual study and experiencing of life. The 1989 graduate of Wareham High School studied hair-dressing and cosmetology briefly, was a model at Rhode Island School of Design and she studied Herbal medicine with practitioners and apothecaries at Great Cape Herbal in Yarmouth, MA. She was a self-motivated scholar of medicinal teas and organic gardening. She loved to study religions of the world and use it in her art. She was a passionate traveler and experienced much of the United States in her truck with her favorite companion, her dog, Cody. She graduated from UMASS Amherst with a BA in Fine Arts and went on to have art shows in the Provincetown area. Her exquisite cooking and infectious smile will be missed.

Michelle is survived by her mother Jan, two sisters Tonya Myers of Wareham, Ma, and Rory Wallace of Pasadena, Maryland.  She is also survived by her niece, nephews, great niece, great nephews, and a large extended family of aunts and cousins. She is predeceased by her beloved father, William Filkins.
