Music From Land's End returns to Wareham
The Music From Land's End concert series returned for its seventh year with a performance at the Wareham Free Library on Thursday, July 26.
The hour long string quartet performance was lead by violinist Ariadne Daskalakis and featured music from classical composers such as Joseph Haydn, Charles Ives and Carl Ruggles.
Daskalakis was joined by violinist Riccardo Caraceni, violist Sebastian Gottschick and cellist Paige Riggs.
"Playing in a string quartet is the dream of many musicians," Daskalakis said during Thursday night's performance. "We're constantly agreeing and disagreeing, and that makes beautiful music."
Daskalakis grew up summering in Wareham, and after years of performing around the world, she said it was time for her to bring her music home.
"I missed being here," Daskalakis said. "For us, it's a joy to come back and pick up where we left off."
According to Daskalakis, the process of designing her own concert series has also been rewarding.
"I wanted to make sure the music fit appropriately in the community," Daskalakis said. "And we've been met with a wonderful response."
Admission to the Music From Land's End concert series is by donation, and all proceeds from Thursday's performance will go directly to the Wareham Free Library.
