Dec 11, 2013

Seventeen-year-old Quintin Costa of New Bedford was arrested after allegedly fleeing police during a traffic stop, and hitting a guardrail and a light post in the process.

At approximately 9 p.m. on Dec. 10, police received a report of a suspicious car in a residential driveway in the Great Neck Road area. Officers arrived and saw the car described to them leaving the area, and attempted to pull the car over on Depot Street.

The car stopped, then abruptly took off heading toward Glen Charlie Road where it took the on ramp on to Route 25 eastbound toward Bourne.

The car lost control near the Plymouth town line and hit a guardrail then a light post.

Costa, the driver, fled on foot as passenger Preston Pedrosa stayed in the car complaining of back pain. He was treated at the scene by the Plymouth Fire Department and EMS before being taken to Tobey hospital.

The Bourne and the Massachusetts state police helped find Costa not far from the car. He was not injured, and was arrested and taken to the Wareham Police Department.

Costa has been charged with failure to stop for police, speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He will be arraigned at Wareham District Court on Wednesday, December 11. Pedrosa will not face criminal charges.
