New Town of Wareham website goes live
The Select Board announced that the new website for the Town of Wareham is now live at the board’s Tuesday, April 1 meeting.
For the past several weeks both the old website and the new website have been searchable on the internet as construction on the new site finishes. The address for the Town of Wareham website is now: www.Wareham.gov and the old site and address has been taken down.
Select Board Chair Judith Whiteside said the state has pushed for all municipalities, that have not already switched, to transition to the “.gov” domain for their websites.
Some of the documents and other information stored on the previous website are still being ported over to the new site.
The board encouraged residents to sign up for email notifications and alerts through the new website. Users have the option to choose which boards and departments they receive news from. Instructions for signing up can be found at this link: https://www.wareham.gov/list.aspx.
Whiteside said she did have some trouble with the instructions for notifications.
“They didn’t work for me,” Whiteside said with a laugh.
Many of the pages on the new website return a “404 page not found” error. This error was present while both the old site and the new site were still online.
The new site is a visual overhaul of the town government online hub, with additional icons, photographs and modern presentation.
“The new website is really nice looking,” Whiteside said.
Select Board member Sarah Corbitt encouraged every town employee and board member to ensure everything that was on their old page is on their new page.
