No special election will be held to fill Select Board seat

Jan 9, 2024

The Select Board at its Tuesday, Jan. 9 meeting voted to not hold a special election to fill its vacancy.

One of the five positions on the board has been vacant since Monday, Nov. 27, when Tricia Wurts resigned from her role stating, “It was not possible for me to continue in that position.”

Select Board Chair Judith Whiteside said the election would cost the town anywhere from $15,000 to $20,000 and would also require a “64 day lead time.”

With the annual election set to be held on Tuesday, May 7 and the current vacancies at the clerk’s office, the board agreed it would not make sense to hold a special election.
