Jun 16, 2021

The Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center was chosen to lease the former Oak Grove School for a five-year term, Town Administrator Derek Sullivan reported on June 15.

He told the Board of Selectmen that Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center and Southshore Community Action Council both responded to the town’s request for proposals.

Sullivan said he and Town Planner Ken Buckland reviewed and scored the proposals before making a selection.

“I’m very proud to announce that the Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center has been awarded the contract,” Sullivan said.

Selectmen Alan Slavin and Judith Whiteside complimented Sullivan’s hard work.

“I know this has been something you really wanted to accomplish on behalf of the Cape Verdean community,” Whiteside said.

Sullivan said the group’s proposal was “very strong.”
