Officials in favor of continued outdoor dining

The Select Board spoke positively about the prospect of continuing to allow restaurants with liquor licenses to offer outdoor dining, including on town property.

Outdoor dining was expanded during the pandemic.

“Outdoor dining and drinking and all that is maybe a good idea,” Whiteside said.

Select Board member Alan Slavin said the town should do “whatever we can to come out and help our restaurants, and just bring more people into town.”

He said he was also in favor of allowing businesses to continue offering outdoor dining on town property if the Town Administrator approved.

On April 1, the covid-era licenses allowing outdoor dining will expire, per the state. Select Board member Peter Teitelbaum said that those business owners will need to reapply and go through a public hearing process.
