Olive May Carman, 88, cranberry screener, homemaker

Olive May (Wrightington) Carman, 88, of Wareham, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Forestview Nursing Home in Wareham after a long illness. She was the wife of Ira C. Carman.

Born in Carver, she was the daughter of the late William & Amelia F. (Hann) Wrightington. A homemaker, Mrs. Carman also worked as a screener for the A.D. Makepeace Co. for many years. She enjoyed travelling and ballroom dancing.

She is survived by her husband; her sister, Hazel Merriman of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Dawn Murphy and Kevin Carman; her great-grandson, Dylan Murphy, and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Tuesday Apr. 19, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. followed by a graveside service at the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:00 a.m. Visiting hours have been omitted.
