Onset Bay Association gives thanks to Chalkfest supporters
On Aug. 27, the Onset Bay Association hosted its 4th annual Chalk-Full-O-Fun Festival. Approximately 200 artists of all ages, and 20 artisan crafters devoted their time and talents to the event. Peter Mundt’s acoustic guitar playing and smooth vocals provided the musical backdrop, and Bhen Alan transformed a corner of the bandshell with his artistic flair.
Thank you to all the organizations and businesses who donated funds, materials, prizes and people power, including: the Wareham and Rochester Cultural Councils, local agencies that are supported by the Massachussets Cultural council, a state agency; First Citizens Federal Credit Union whose contribution covered the cost of books given to children who participated in the Story Walk; the Wareham Public Library for their enthusiasm and for preparing the Story Walk; Dog Days Coffee for the unexpected treats for our volunteers; Tim Foley of the Bourne Wareham Art Association for providing an art workshop; Eastern Bank’s Jennifer Haley and friends who offered free face painting; Cultural Connections for the loan of their P.A. system; Powderhorn Press for our programs and publicity; our prize donors – Water Wizz, Cape Cod Collectibles, Bailey’s Surf ‘n’ Turf, Matt’s Blackboard Restaurant, Flagship Cinemas, Ace Hardware, Cartland, and Capt. Bonney’s Ice Cream; the Wareham Police Department for their presence and for cordoning off Waban Street to keep us all safe; and especially to the committed core of volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the day a great success.
This has become an anticipated event that ignites and unites the true spirit of community. We are all looking forward to 2018 when we will celebrate our fifth year by bringing a professional 3-D artist to the pavement.
