Wareham Police arrested a 24-year-old Onset man on Tuesday, October 11, after finding 57 marijuana plants growing in his home.

Detectives and patrol officers executed a search warrant at Sean Hogan's 49 Waban Ave. home in Onset at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and during a search located "an elaborate marijuana growing operation" in the cellar of the home, according to a police statement.

The plants found were in "various stages of growth" from seedlings to full-grown plants, police said. A "large amount" of marijuana was also recovered in the upstairs of the home, according to the statement. Police found smaller amounts of the marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia throughout the residence.

Hogan was charged with possession of a "Class D" substance and with a drug violation near a school/park, according to police. Waban Avenue is located a short distance from the Ethel E. Hammond Elementary School.

In praising the Wareham Police detectives, Police Chief Richard Stanley reminded "illegal drug users and dealers that their actions will not be tolerated."
