To the Editor:

In response to the opinion “Select Board must not stop mail-in voting:”

Massachusetts state law provides: “A registered voter who will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to absence from the voter's city or town during polling hours, disability, or religious beliefs may request an Absentee Ballot by filing out a form.”

Contrary to what has been previously stated, "opting out" of mail-in voting will not affect the Absentee Ballot process. Eligible Wareham voters will not be prevented from voting.

Voting analysis by election experts has determined that mail-in voting is the most insecure method of voting (e.g. 2020 and 2022 national elections). The town of Wareham must do everything possible to ensure the integrity of our elections. Eliminating mail-in voting is a step in the right direction to ensure the security and integrity of our elections.
