Owen V. Burke, 85
Owen V. Burke, 85, of Wareham, died Feb. 24, in the Tremont Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Parisi) Burke, and the son of the late Eugene and Nora (Malaguti) Burke.
He was born in Manhattan and lived in the Far East, as well as Plymouth, Florida, and Wareham.
Mr. Burke served in the United States Navy. He was a World War II veteran.
He graduated from Columbia University and Bridgewater State College.
Mr. Burke was a teacher at the Wareham High School for 33 years before retiring.
Survivors include his widow, Mary Jane (Parisi) Burke of Wareham; his brother-in-law, Robert Parisi and his wife, Joan, of East Hartford, CT; 2 nephews, James Parisi of Flemington, NJ, and Frank Parisi of Windsor, CT; 2 nieces, Nancy Nafis of East Hampton, CT and Anne Marie Ross of Plymouth
His graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 4, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham.
