Paul W. Govoni, 70

Paul W. Govoni, 70, of Carver, died February 29 at home with his family gathered by his side. He was the husband of Geraldine “Gerry” (Andre) Govoni and the son of the late Mario & Elinor (Fanning) Govoni.

 

He was born in New Bedford and raised in Wareham. He then lived in Bridgewater for 39 years before moving to Carver recently.

 

He graduated from Wareham High School, class of 1959, and from Franklin Institute of Technology.

 

Mr. Govoni worked as a manufacturing engineer for Raytheon Corporation for many years before retiring. Previously, he worked for Honeywell, Inc.

 

He enjoyed fishing, reading, and yard work. One of his favorite activities was attending his children’s and later his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was active in the Bridgewater Soccer League and made many friends there.

 

Survivors include his widow, Geraldine “Gerry” (Andre) Govoni; 2 daughters, Lisa M. Rutkowski and her husband Ross Rutkowski, D.C. of Swansea, Jennifer A. Tibbetts and her husband Stephen of Carver; 2 sons, Jeffrey A. Govoni and his wife Kim of Middleboro and Kevin P. Govoni and his wife Nicole Govoni, D.V.M. of Brockton; 2 sisters, Mary Beth Cormier and Anne Marie Ames both of Wareham; 7 grandchildren, Victoria, Blake, and Sydney Rutkowski, Joseph and Michael Govoni, Gemma and Sophia Tibbetts; several nephews and nieces.

 

His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater.

 

Visiting hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
