Pedestrian injured in Shore Avenue accident
A 20-year-old Wareham man sustained injuries to his leg after being struck by a vehicle on Shore Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9.
Police said 27-year-old Heather Tello of Wareham was driving down Shore Avenue in the Swifts Beach neighborhood when Benjamin Matthews entered the road to retrieve a dog.
Tello was unable to stop the vehicle in time and hit Matthews, according to police. Matthews was treated by Wareham EMS and transported to Tobey Hospital. Stephanie Poyant, a representative from Southcoast Health System, said he was released as of Monday, Nov. 14.
The Jeep Cherokee that Tello was driving sustained minor front-end damage in the accident, police said. No criminal charges or motor vehicle citations were issued.
In addition to Wareham Police and EMS, the Wareham Fire Department also responded to the scene.
