Pedestrian killed on Rte. 25 identified

The pedestrian who was killed by a vehicle on Rte. 25 East on Friday night has been identified by State Police as Lisa Sullivan, 58, of Sandwich.

At about 9 p.m. on Route 25 East at the 495 North interchange, Sullivan entered the roadway and was struck by a 2013 Toyota Prius operated by a 36-year-old Pocasset woman, who stayed at the scene.

The victim was transported to Toby Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. 

The crash, including why the pedestrian was in the roadway, remains under investigation at this time. No charges have been filed at this time.

State Police were assisted by Wareham Police and Wareham Fire and EMS. Two travel lanes on Route 25 were closed from the time of the crash until 11:30 p.m. to facilitate the rescue response and investigation.
