Permanent director named at the Wareham Free Library
The Wareham Free Library named a new permanent director Tuesday. Denise Medeiros, who has been the acting director at the facility since July 2010, was named to the full-time position.
"It's good," said Mederios. "It's a good place to be... we have a lot of plans."
April 15 would have marked three years since the library has had a permanent director. If a library goes longer than three years without a permanent director it loses eligibility to receive state funding.
The library's last full-time director, the late Mary Jane Pillsbury, served the library for 35 years, stepping down in April 2008 due to declining health.
Then-assistant-director Susan Pizzolato was named acting director, but she left to take a position as director of the Mattapoisett library a year later.
Former Director of the Council on Aging Marcia Griswold then served as interim director of the library for 13 months before being replaced by Mederios in July.
Medeiros was the director of the Dartmouth Public Libraries before coming to Wareham.
