PHOTOS: Onset Bay lights up for Illumination Night

Jul 28, 2013

Onset Bay and its two islands sparkled on Saturday during the Onset Bay Association's Illumination Night.

The quiet lighting of the flares was ushered in by a marching performance of the Cambridge-based Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band.

Beginning in the Oniset Heights section of the village, the band marched down Cove Street, over the Stone Bridge, and finally, to the gazebo on the Bluffs, briefly halting traffic and prompting unsuspecting spectators to whip out their cell phones and cameras for photos.

The band performed at the gazebo until Mother Nature turned off the lights, setting the perfect scene for the lighting of the bay.
