Phyllis (Harding) Hunt Nixon, 100, of Buzzards Bay, formerly of Wareham, passed away on Sept. 1 at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home in Bourne after a period of declining health. She fought many obstacles right until the end. She was born on July 9, 1919 in Dartmouth, MA.

She was the Elder of the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe and just recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends.

She loved God and the Creator. Phyllis was a member of the former Pondville Indian Baptist Church in Plymouth and the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in East Wareham.

Phyllis had been a resident of the Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home since 2015. It was quite an adjustment for her at first but that’s when her artistic talents came to light. She looked forward to weekly arts and crafts and couldn’t wait to show her family her paintings, ceramics and jewelry.
