Play fills Wareham High School auditorium with energy
To honor the 25th anniversary of the Viking Theater Company, this year’s group preformed “the Good Doctor.” The show was originally done by the group in 2002.
“This year, all three of the shows we’ll be doing on the main stage will be shows we’ve done before,” said director Don Bliss.
“The Diviners” and “Annie” will be the other two shows preformed.
“I have been doing shows here since these kids were born,” Bliss said. “So, just because I have done a show before doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be done by a new group.”
This year’s group put in six weeks of work.
The group rehearsed seven to eight hours a week for five weeks, then the hours were upped to six-hour days during the week before the performance.
“Everyone made a huge improvement over the last week,” said Tyrone Cabral, playing Kistunov.
Heading into the evening’s performance, emotions were positive.
“I’m excited,” said G. Allen Perry, playing M. Chredyakov among other roles.
Kelsey Jackson, playing Madame Brasilhov, spoke on what her first thought would be following the performance.
“I’ll just want to shower,” Jackson said.
The final show will be Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Wareham High School auditorium.
