Police arrest two for multiple drug and weapons charges

Wareham Police detectives charged two brothers with multiple felony drug and gun-related charges at an early-morning drug raid on Wednesday.

Richard Prada-Ruiz, 24, and Joseph Prada-Ruiz, 21, were arrested at their home at 532 Main St., Wareham, as a result of an ongoing investigation by Wareham Police detectives. Detectives, assisted by the Massachusetts State Police and members of the DEA Cape Cod Task Force, executed a search warrant at the address at approximately 5 a.m.

Inside the residence, investigators located a large amount of illegal prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia, scales and drug packaging materials.  In addition to the drugs, police located two handguns, one of which was fully loaded.  it was later learned that the guns had been stolen earlier this month from a residence in Wareham that had been broken into.

Richard Prada-Ruiz is charged with Possession to distribute a Class B drug, Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without a F.I.D., Receiving Stolen Property over $250 (gun), Possession of Class D Marijuana Over one ounce, and Possession of a Large-Capacity Magazine.

Joseph Prada-Ruiz is charged with Possession to Distribute a Class B drug, Possession of a Firearm without a F.I.D. card, Possession of Ammunition without a F.I.D. card, and Receiving Stolen Property over $250 (gun).

Both men were arraigned at Wareham 4th District Court and are currently being held at the Plymouth County House of Correction in lieu of $10,000 cash bail each.  Richard Prada-Ruiz is also being held on violation of probation.

Chief Richard Stanley commended his officers for taking two more drug dealers off the streets of Wareham and for the recovery of two stolen handguns.
