Police arrest Wareham drug offender after noticing suspicious activity

Police arrested a Wareham drug offender after noticing him acting suspiciously in a parked vehicle, Wareham Police said on Wednesday.

Wareham resident James Pires, 22, was arrested after being found with two knives and approximately 16.7 grams of suspected cocaine in various small baggies, police said. The baggies were intended for distribution, police said.

The Wareham Police Department Detective Division were conducting an investigation at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, regarding a warrant apprehension attempt in the Woods at Wareham apartment complex, police said.

The police then noticed Pires acting suspiciously in a parked vehicle, police said.

Police noticed a metal pipe within reach of Pires when they began to speak to him, police said. Pires also acted very nervous during the conversation, police said.

Police then searched Pires and found the two knives and the baggies of suspected cocaine, police said.

Pires was placed under arrest and charged with possession with intent to distribute a class B substance, police said. He was arraigned at Wareham Fourth District Court during the morning of Wednesday, September 12.
