Police charge Wareham man with shoplifting

A Wareham man is in custody for attempting to steal a cell phone from Walmart on Wednesday, police said.

Glenn Proctor, 51, was arrested after leading Wareham Police on a brief chase on Cranberry Highway at 3:15 p.m.

According to police, Proctor drove south on Cranberry Highway after he was confronted by store security for stealing. Proctor was stopped one mile away after he initially ignored police attempts to pull him over.

Police said a cell phone charger and owner’s manual for the cell phone Proctor attempted to steal were found in the car.

Proctor was charged with: shoplifting (third offense), failure to stop for police, marked lanes violation and operating after license revocation.
