Police chief on medical leave, lieutenants step up
Lieutenant Kevin Walsh is serving as Acting Chief of the Wareham Police Department, Town Administrator Derek Sullivan announced on Tuesday.
"We have brought forward Kevin Walsh during Chief Stanley's medical leave," said Sullivan.
According to Sullivan, who would not comment further on Stanley's situation, Walsh stepped into the position last week.
The police chief also serves as "emergency manager" for the town, an aspect of the job that Lieutenant John Walcek will be covering in Stanley's absence.
Walcek currently serves as Deputy Emergency Management Director for the town and was recently recognized with the Emergency Manager of the year award from the Northeast States Emergency Consortium.
Wareham Week will update this story as information becomes available.
