Police issue flash flood warning
The Wareham Police Department has issued a severe weather warning with temperatures expected to reach up to 100 degrees and a flash flood watch for the rest of Tuesday, July 8.
The department is preparing for the town to potentially get 1 to 2 inches of rain per hour. According to the police, rain could begin at 2 p.m. and end late in the evening.
Wareham town officials are still dealing with debris removal from the July 3 storm, which the police expects to take weeks.
Due to the flash floods in Texas, which have claimed the lives of over 100 people, Wareham Emergency Management is encouraging all citizens to sign up for rave alerts, to get the most up to date information on local emergencies, natural disasters and severe weather.
Residents are able to go to the town of Wareham website, go to the emergency management page and register under alert Wareham to sign up for notifications.
Wareham Police asks everyone to plan accordingly and monitor the weather forecast throughout the day.
