Products fly off the shelves at local hardware store
The first big storm of the year has come and gone and the people of Wareham will certainly be prepared for the next blizzard, at least if you check the shelves at Aubuchon Hardware Store.
"We sold out of rock salt and a few different styles of shovels," said Aubuchon store manager Bob Cooney.
He said he started seeing an increase in customers on Wednesday in preparation of the storm's arrival on Thursday night and that the store was still bustling through Friday night.
"We weren't that busy Friday morning, but once people dug themselves out they started coming," Cooney said.
According to Cooney, the most popular items over the last few days aside from salt and shovels were sand, windshield wiper fluid, and pellet stove fuel.
"I didn't sell any generators. To the best of my knowledge nobody lost power," Cooney said.
NSTAR reported one outage in Wareham for the duration of the storm.
Cooney said the high volume of sales is typical for the first storm of the season and Aubuchon will be prepared for the next one as well.
