Sep 14, 2012
A recount of Wareham's state primary votes for the Democratic party candidates for First District representative on the Governor's Council revealed little change in the numbers.
The race was extremely close statewide. In the Wareham recount, Nicholas Bernier received 205 votes, Oliver Cipollini received 281 votes, and Walter Moniz garnered 287.
Bernier tacked on two more votes in the recount, Cipollini's votes did not change, and Moniz lost one vote.
Cipollini has been declared the overall winner of the primary. He will face off against his brother, Charles Cipollini, who is running on the Republican ticket.
