Registration open for 26th annual Buzzards Bay Swim

Jan 2, 2019

The 26th annual Buzzards Bay Swim will be held on June 22.

Swimmers ages 11 and older are invited to participate.

Swimmers will complete a 1.2-mile point-to-point open-water course starting in New Bedford’s South End, past the Butler Flats Lighthouse and New Bedford hurricane barrier.

The finish line is at Fort Phoenix State Reservation in Fairhaven where swimmers and their guests will be welcomed to a beach party.

The party will feature a live steel drum band, pancakes, coffee, free massages, local craft beer, awards and prizes.

First-time and beginner swimmers can swim with a personal kayak or paddleboard escort for added support.

All funds raised through the swim will support the Buzzard Bay Coalition’s mission to protect clean water in communities located across the Buzzards Bay region, which includes over 8,000 acres of watershed land.

Last year, swimmers raised a total of $158,000.

Registration for the Buzzards Bay Swim is $25, and swimmers commit to raising a minimum of $150 each.
