The fifth annual Brent Hastings Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Bay Pointe Country Club starting at 1 p.m. The event will be followed by a dinner at the club.

The cost is $500 per team and $125 per golfer. The tournament will be scramble style with a shotgun start.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to Brent’s Bed, partnership with Gosnold of Cape Cod and The Herren Project to assist young men in recovery with financial support as they transition to a recovery residence.

Brent’s Bed provides an initial 30-day scholarship at a recovery residence, a recovery coach from The Herren Project and a stepped down plan of financial support for the second 30 days as the client transitions back into the society. The Herren Project increases awareness on the dangers of substance abuse and helps victims and families affected by it.

The Brent Hastings Memorial Fund was founded in 2014 as a way to honor the memory of Wareham's Brent Hastings, who passed away from a heroin overdose in 2014. To date, more than $78,000 has been raised to support substance use disorder education, awareness and recovery programs.

Those not interested in playing golf can still attend the dinner which costs $25.
