Richard A. Silvia, 57

Richard A. Silvia, 57, of Mashpee, formerly of West Wareham, died August 7 in Falmouth Hospital. He was the son of Marion (Andrews) Nottage and the late Richard Silvia.

He was born in Taunton, raised in Swansea, and lived in Wareham for many years before moving to Mashpee. He served in the Massachusetts Navy Reserves for six years.

Mr. Silvia graduated from Case High School in Swansea.

Mr. Silvia proudly worked as an oil burner technician for Loud Fuel Company and many other oil companies in the area. He had also worked for Tremont Nail Company in Wareham.

He enjoyed motorcycle riding, antiquing, playing the guitar and keyboard and attending antique car shows.

Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Dubois of West Wareham; two sons, Richard J. Silvia of Wareham and Brian Cardoza of RI; his mother and step-father, Marion Nottage and Elton Nottage of Texas; two sisters, Robin Hart of Somerset and Sue Helm of Texas; five grandchildren, Sabrina and Emilee Dubois, Richard Silvia, Jr., Lillyanna Silvia and Brianna Cardoza; his companion, Lisa Dempsey of Mashpee; many nephews, nieces, family and friends.

His visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.
