Robert Francis McLean, 76

Robert Francis McLean, 76, of E. Wareham, died Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion after a long illness. He was the husband of Evelyn M. (Malovich) McLean.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late James J. & Alice M. McLean.  A summer resident of Wareham since childhood in his family’s one-room cottage, Mr. McLean moved to Wareham in 1990 from Millis. Over the years, he built additions and made improvements to make the cottage their year-round home. Mr. McLean worked for many years in the maintenance department at MCI – Norfolk.

Mr. McLean was a decorated U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. A member of the 598th Maintenance Company, he received the Vietnam Service medal with 2 bronze stars and a Silver Star medal.

He enjoyed fishing, cooking and travelling.

Robert is survived by his wife, Evelyn of E. Wareham; his stepchildren, Wayne Rawding of E. Wareham and Theresa Rawding of Farnam, NE; his grandchildren, Jillian Rawding who he raised, and Maggie and Angela Rice; his great-grandchildren, Bentley and Lennox; his siblings, Valerie Somers of Millis, James J. McLean, Jr. of NH, Dan McLean of AZ and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wed., June 30, 2021, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 – 6 PM.  A funeral service will be held on Thurs., Jul. 1, 2021 at the funeral home at 10 AM.  Interment will follow at Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
