Rubber duck race to benefit the Library coming June 14

The Friends of the Wareham Free Library will be “just ducky” on Sunday, June 14 on the Tihonet Pond Canal when the group will host its inaugural Rubber Duck Race.

The Friends are inviting the public to join them for a Rubber Duck Race by buying one race duck for $5, a "six quack" of six ducks for $25, a baker’s dozen of 13 for $50, or a golden flock of 25 for $100.

Ducks may be purchased ahead of time at the Library during regular library hours or at the next Friends Used Book Sale on May 28, 29 and 30. Duck owners are encouraged to have fun and decorate their ducks ahead of time. The yellow rubber ducks will also be available for purchase at the race.

The race begins at the A.D. Makepeace Company at 150 Tihonet Road. Winners will be awarded prizes. The Duck Race will be at 2 p.m. following the Kiwanis 5K run at 11 a.m. All proceeds benefit the work of the Friends of the Wareham Free Library.

Library Hours are as follows:

Thursdays: 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Friday: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday: 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
