Ruth D. (Kelleher) Mason, 90

Ruth D. (Kelleher) Mason, 90, of Onset, formerly of Lynn, died at home on July 19, 2020. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Mason and the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Alice M. (Southworth) Kelleher.

She graduated from St. Joseph’s Institute, St. Mary’s High School and Lynn Hospital School of Nursing, all in Lynn.

Mrs. Mason worked as a florist at her husband’s business, Charles’ Greenhouse in Lynn for 33 years before retiring. She had also worked as a unit secretary at Union Hospital in Lynn and Tobey Hospital in Wareham.

She was an active member of St. Margaret’s Church and St. Mary’s Church and was a former President and Vice President of Women’s Guild and led special events in the choir. She was a choir vocalist and director at St. Mary’s Church for 23 years.

Survivors include 5 sons, Thomas Mason of Bath, NY, Paul Mason of Lynn, Robert Mason of Quaker Hills, Ct. David Mason of Onset and Stephen Mason of Amesbury; 5 daughters, Dorothy Natoli of Westford, Janet Wall of Onset, Dr. Marjorie Crabtree of Centerville, Dr. Linda Mason of Braintree and Lorraine Mason of Worcester; 9 grandchildren, Chris Mason, Sheila VanTwuyver, Matthew Wall, Doug Crabtree, Jr., Rebecca Crabtree, Thomas Crabtree, Melissa Mason, Colleen Mason, Cole Buckley; 4 great grandchildren, Van Mason, Eva Mason, Amanda VanTwuyver and Robert VanTwuyver. She was the sister of the late Dr. Robert Kelleher and Philip Kelleher. 

Her funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at St. Mary’s Church, Onset. 

Visiting hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. (Appropriate COVID-19 protocol will be observed including the use of face masks, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity).

Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Margaret’s Church, 141 Main St., Buzzards Bay.
