SCHEDULE: Wareham Vikings wrapping up winter season
What better way to spend the Valentine’s month than watching the Wareham Vikings wrap up their winter sports seasons?
Wareham High School’s athletes will compete straight through February vacation.
Boys varsity basketball plays all games at 6:30 p.m. The Vikings will be at Bourne on Friday, Feb. 8. The boys are home against Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech on Tuesday, Feb. 12, and home opposing Apponequet on Friday, Feb. 15. The boys end their regular season home again on Tuesday, Feb. 19, against North Quincy.
The girls varsity basketball team also plays all games at 6:30 p.m. The ladies are home against Bourne on Friday, Feb. 8. The girls are away at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech on Tuesday, Feb. 12, and play their last game of the regular season away, at Apponequet, on Friday, Feb. 15.
The girls and boys winter track teams have ended their dual meets, but still have the South Coast Conference Meet at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 9:30 a.m. for the athletes who have qualified. There is also the MIAA Division 3 Championships for qualifying athletes at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14. The time of the meet has not yet been announced..
The MIAA Auerbach All State Meet for elite qualifiers will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Reggie Lewis Center. The time has not yet been announced. The individual Pentathlon for boys is on Tuesday, Feb. 26, and for girls is Wednesday, Feb. 27. These meets are both at 3:30 p.m. in the Reggie Lewis Center.
The track season carries into March, with the best athletes in New England competing in the New England Championships on Saturday, March 2. This will be held at the Reggie Lewis Center, and the time is to be announced.
The boys ice hockey team has three games left in the season. The Vikings are home at the Gallo Arena, facing Apponequet, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. They are away in New Bedford at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11. The boys are away again, competing against Old Rochester Regional High School, on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m.
The BMW (Bourne/Mashpee/Wareham) girls ice hockey team has four games left to wrap up its season. The ladies are in Falmouth on Saturday, Feb. 9, playing Hanover/Cohasset at 5:10 p.m. They will be at the Gallo Arena opposing Sandwich at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13. The girls will travel to Milton to play Scituate at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16. BMW will compete in Falmouth again on Monday, Feb. 18, at 11:20 a.m. against Marshfield.
