School dismissal delayed due to search
School officials said a “concern with a bus” delayed student dismissal on Dec. 11 at Wareham Middle and High Schools, but a search revealed no reason for alarm.
According to a statement released by Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood, as dismissal began officials received a message indicating a problem with one of the buses. Officials did not reveal the nature of the message.
Shaver-Hood said as middle school students were already loaded on the bus, officials decided to unload those students and return them to school.
Wareham Police and firefighters were notified and called in to perform a search. After finding nothing, students were put back on the buses and dismissal resumed.
“Our thanks to the Wareham Police and Fire Departments for their assistance and to all of you for your understanding as we all work collectively to provide our students with a safe and secure environment,” Shaver-Hood wrote in the statement.
