Second Annual Wareham Walk for Hunger getting ready to kick-off

Apr 20, 2011

Get out your walking shoes!  The Second Annual Greater Wareham Walk for Hunger is getting ready to step off on Sunday, May 1.

The five mile walk will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 74 High Street, Wareham and progress down to Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene at 6 Rogers Ave, Wareham and back to the Church of the Good Shepherd.

The Greater Wareham Walk for Hunger is held the same day as the 20 mile Walk for Hunger in Boston, and also benefits Project Bread which in turn provides funding for our local food pantries and feeding programs. Project Bread, the state’s leading anti-hunger organization is dedicated to alleviating, preventing, and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts. Through The Walk for Hunger, Project Bread provides millions of dollars each year in privately donated funds to more than 400 emergency food programs in 128 communities statewide.

The Greater Wareham Walk for Hunger is a chance to participate in the statewide effort to alleviate hunger without all hassle of traveling to Boston.  Parking is available at the Church of the Good Shepherd or Tobey Hospital.

This year’s local walk is sponsored by The Church of the Good Shepherd, Community Baptist Church of Marion, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and Emanuel Church of the Nazarene with the support of the Wareham Clergy Association.
