Select Board establishes golf course advisory committee for Little Harbor

Mar 15, 2022

The Select Board approved during its Tuesday night meeting the creation of a golf course advisory committee to help Town Administrator Derek Sullivan as a management company is selected to run Little Harbor Country Club.

Board members discussed the utility of an advisory committee and what Sullivan needs as management companies are reviewed to run the golf course. Residents approved at the last Special Town Meeting the town’s purchase of Little Harbor Country Club. A request for proposals for future management companies was issued on the town website on Tuesday.

“It has to be an advisory committee,” member Alan Slavin said.

Member Patrick Tropeano emphasized that the committee shouldn’t get involved with monitoring the actions of the future golf course management company. Other members agreed that the committee is meant to help Sullivan in this preliminary process, not watch over the future management company’s shoulder.

Board chair Judith Whiteside said information on the new committee will be posted to the town’s website on Wednesday, March 16.

The committee will be composed of five people, members agreed, and the group will “sunset,” or dissolve, on Dec. 31, 2022. The establishment of the committee was approved with an unanimous vote.
