Aug 27, 2014
Selectman Stephen Holmes was taken to the hospital by Wareham EMS after appearing to faint near the end of the Board of Selectman meeting Tuesday night.
Holmes walked out of the meeting under his own power after Wareham Fire Department, EMS and Marion EMS were on the scene at the Multi-Service Center for about a half hour.
Selectman Alan Slavin said Holmes has a "blood sugar issue" and would be fine.
The meeting came to an abrupt halt at about 8:30 p.m. when Holmes began to faint. Selectmen Judith Whiteside rushed to his aid as other officials quickly followed and Selectman Peter Teitelbaum called 911.
EMS was on the scene within minutes. The meeting resumed after Holmes was taken to the hospital.
