Selectmen establish Police Department Feasibility Committee

Sep 11, 2019

The Board of Selectmen voted on Tuesday to establish a committee that would look into building a new police station.

Following the format established by a similar committee in Bourne, the committee will be composed of one member each from the Board of Selectmen, the Finance Committee, and the Capital Planning Committee, along with five members-at-large, who would ideally have experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or law enforcement.

The committee will also include Town Administrator Derek Sullivan, Acting Chief of Police John Walcek, and two staff members of the Wareham Police Department serving ex-officio, meaning that they would participate in discussions but would not vote.

Selectboard Chair Patrick Tropeano was selected to be the representative of the Board on the committee.
