Selectmen made several new appointments Tuesday night, during their regular meeting.

The Board voted to appoint Rhonda Josey, Barbara Sullivan, and Kenny Fontes to the board of Wareham's Community and Economic Development Authority (CEDA).

During the questioning period, Selectman Stephen Holmes told Fontes, who is also the director of the Boys and Girls Club of Wareham, that he would need to be cognizant of conflict of interest issues that might arise involving overlap of CEDA and the Boys and Girls Club.

Fontes said he is aware of the possibility of overlap, and stated he would recuse himself from voting on CEDA items involving the organization he directs. He also said he would not be involved with applications from the Boys and Girls Club requesting CEDA monies.

The Board of Selectman also approved William G. Heaney to the board of Road Commissioners.

When asked by Selectman Judith Whiteside why he was interested in serving on the committee, Heaney said, “I have sat on the boards in the past, but I see the Road Commission as interesting."

"It's new and doesn't yet have a history, because it's in the beginning stages, there's opportunities to set precedence for the town in regard to the roads,” Heaney said.
